I saw this quilt in a book by Japanese quilter Shizuko Kuroha some years ago but there was no pattern just the photo. My very smart friend, Helen Merzliakov, drew up the pattern and we both made the quilt. It’s a log cabin design that is foundation paper pieced. It was a very frustrating project as it needed to be sewn mirror image with two fabrics on each block. Of course I kept sewing them back to front so have a lot of spare blocks that are absolutely useless. We’ve called our quilt “Kyoto Trees”. It’s not exactly the same design as the original which is called “Echo II”.
And I have just completed this quilt called “Teds in Bed”. It’s for a friend’s baby boy to be born in July.
